Meet Sharron Collins

Sharron grew up in Winona and her motto is " It's not how or where you start but how you finish." She has lived in several states but wanted to return to her home town and pour into the lives of young people. She spent a year working at Winona Montgomery Consolidated School District doing just that. She is currently employed as a CTE Contact Person and College and Career Readiness Instructor for Carroll County School District where she continues her passion of pouring into the hearts and minds of young  people and preparing them for their journeys. Her life's journey has taken her to Atlanta, Indiana, Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, and as far as West Africa mentoring and teaching others. She would bring a wealth of knowledge & experience working with people from all walks of life to Winona City Government. She has experience writing grants and believes that she will be able to secure grant funding for new initiatives such as jobs, youth programs, housing, and more programs/activities for the city of Winona. Her life travels and experiences have ignited a passion in her to help make Winona a more desirable place for its citizens to live, work, and thrive. Winona should be a city for all of its citizens to prosper. She is extremely disappointed at the decline of jobs, shopping, and opportunities for people to just live comfortably and safe in the town where she got her start. Going forward her goal is to work to "Shift our Focus" in Winona and work towards creating avenues for entrepreneurs and encouraging others to pursue their passions...open that restaurant you've always dreamed of, medical practice, computer repair business, salon, HVAC business, Construction/Contractor, Ice Cream Shop, etc. Winona sits at what is known as the "Crossroads of Mississippi", an opportune, perfect, and prime location for any business.
